Why Music?
Language, arts, technology, mathematics, geography, history and religion all relate to music in very fundamental ways. As such, music provides a fertile middle ground for discussing a broad range of topics. Music nurtures our human creative process, an increasingly important marker for 21st century success.
Plan
We'll listen to music, visit interesting project sites, design and build our acoustic and electronic instruments, compose music and perform. "Once, long time ago, there was a tune named 'oh when the saints' ... and a fellow named DJ who wanted to play the tune but didn't have the written music for it. So he set out to discover ..."
Schedule
8-9 breakfast, 9-11:30 projects, 12-1 lunch, 2-4:30 activities, 5-6 dinner, 7-8 kids performances, 8:30pm: dodo. Interlaced field trips.
Logistics
While lodging is provided, parents' assistance will be needed to keep the herd in check, plan/deliver food and conduct individual daily negotiation toward sleep.
